I wanted to share an amazing interview I heard on Sunday on CBC Radio with Karyn McCluskey, a police officer in Glasgow, Scotland who heads up the Violence Reduction Unit of the Glasgow police department.
In 2008, Glasgow was the murder capital of Western Europe….now that rate has been cut in half with prevention programming which starts at birth. The podcast talks about the impressive cross-sectoral collaboration to reduce violence in that city—by redefining crime as a public health issue and by ‘caring’ people into change.
